Learn MoreA garage door is the biggest moving part of your house. It runs several times a day, faces the weather, and takes up a huge chunk of your curb. When it stops working, or when you’re ready for something that finally matches the rest of the home, you want the install done by people who’ve been putting doors on Georgetown houses for a long time.
Skylift has been at this since 2007. Nearly two decades of Georgetown driveways, older ranch homes, newer builds with taller openings, side hinged carriage looks, sleek modern glass panels. We know what fits, what lasts, and what falls apart three winters in.

Most calls we get start the same way. Somebody’s door won’t close all the way. Or it groans and shakes when it opens. Or the panels have taken so much sun that the paint is chalking off. Sometimes a car nudged the bottom section and now nothing lines up.
Then there’s the other bucket. You just bought the house and the previous owner left you with something builder grade from 1998. Maybe you renovated the front and now the garage door looks out of place. Maybe you finally finished the driveway and the whole face of the house needs to catch up.
Whatever brought you here, the fix is usually the same. Get the right door, get it measured properly, and get it installed by a crew that’s done thousands of them. That’s what we do.
An install is more than screwing panels to a track. There’s measuring, there’s ordering, and there’s the actual day when the truck pulls up. Here’s how ours runs.
We come out first to look at the opening. Width, height, headroom above the door, side room on both jambs, backroom back into the garage. Every one of these numbers changes what door and what track system will work. Georgetown has a lot of homes where the ceiling drops for HVAC ducts, and a lot of newer builds where the opening is taller than standard. We measure once, order once.
When install day arrives, we protect the driveway and pull the old door down first. Torsion springs get unwound with the right tools by somebody who’s done it before. Old track and hardware come off. New tracks go up plumb and level, new panels stack in, new springs get sized to the door weight, and everything gets balanced by hand before the opener touches it.
We install LiftMaster openers. They’re quiet, they’re strong, they’ve got the smart features people actually use, and the parts are easy to service down the road. If you already have a LiftMaster you love, we’ll wire the new door to it and adjust the travel limits and force settings. If you need a new one, we bring it with us and mount it the same day.
Springs are where most cheap installs cut corners. We size the spring to the door, not to a bin. The wrong spring is why doors start reversing on their own or why your opener burns out in three years. Same story for rollers, hinges, cables, and bearing plates. We swap the ones that need swapping and use parts that hold up.
Before we leave, the door opens and closes a dozen times. We test the safety reverse with a two by four flat on the ground. We check the photo eye alignment. We show you how to use the wall control, the remotes, and the phone app if the opener supports it. Then we haul the old door away.

The right door depends on the house. Here’s what we install most often for residential customers in the area:
Every one of these can be spec’d with different windows, hardware, colors, and insulation values. We bring samples on the estimate visit so you can see them against your actual siding and trim.

Sometimes a repair makes sense. Sometimes it’s throwing money at something that needs replacing. If you’re seeing more than one of these, an install is usually the smarter call:
You had a car or a basketball hoop hit the door and the frame is benta crisis. Two or three together usually mean the door is fighting a losing battle.

For a standard two car door with a new opener, plan on three to four hours from the moment we pull the old door down to the moment we hand you the remotes. Older homes with unusual framing or double doors can push closer to a full day. We tell you upfront which one yours is.
Almost certainly yes. Between the belt drive LiftMaster opener, nylon rollers, and a properly balanced spring, most new installs are quiet enough that people upstairs stop noticing when somebody comes home. If your old opener was a chain drive from the 90s, the difference is night and day.
We’d rather have you there for the first thirty minutes so we can walk the job with you and confirm color, hardware, and opener choices. After that, feel free to work, run errands, or hang out inside. We’ll grab you at the end to show you how everything works and to test the door together.
We take it with us. Panels, track, springs, opener, all of it. The driveway is clean when we leave. If you want to keep the old opener as a shop door remote or something similar, tell us and we’ll set it aside.
Yes. We can bring color chips out with us, or if you have the paint code from a previous project, we can spec a factory finish that gets close. For a perfect match, some homeowners prime the door and have their painter finish it on site after we’re done installing.
Georgetown sits where the Sampit, Black, Pee Dee, and Waccamaw Rivers all meet Winyah Bay, and that Lowcountry location shapes what a garage door goes through here. Salt air off the harbor speeds up corrosion on hardware and hinges faster than it would inland, thick summer humidity swells wood-look panels that aren’t properly sealed, and the occasional tropical storm or hurricane puts real wind load on a door that isn’t rated for it. Homes near the historic district on Front Street tend to be older, with openings and framing that don’t match today’s standard sizes, while newer construction out toward Highway 17 and the surrounding subdivisions often comes with taller, wider openings that need a different spring and track setup entirely.
That mix is exactly why installation matters as much as the door itself. Skylift Garage Doors fits new garage doors to the house in front of us, whether that means a carriage-style door that suits a century-old Georgetown home or a taller insulated steel door built to handle coastal wind and summer heat in a newer build. We size hardware and finishes for salt air exposure, not a generic climate, so the installation holds up through hurricane season and everyday Lowcountry weather alike.
Not every job can be done the day you call. If you need a custom color, a custom size, or a specific glass panel that ships from the factory, we’ll be honest with you about the lead time. But a large share of our installs are same-day service. We stock the common sizes, the common styles, and the LiftMaster openers on the truck.
Call in the morning, we come out, measure, quote, and if the door you want is on the truck, we install it that afternoon. You park in your garage that night. This is how we’ve run the business since 2007, and it’s why most of our new work comes from neighbors of people we’ve already installed for.
