There’s a lot more to a garage door swap than bolting a slab of steel onto some tracks. When our crew rolls up to your place off Highway 9 or one of the back roads near the Little Pee Dee, we treat the job like it’s going on our own home. That means measuring the opening twice, checking the header for rot (Green Sea humidity does a number on framing lumber), and making sure the floor is level before a single panel comes off the truck.
The old door has to come down first. We disconnect the opener, unwind the torsion spring, and haul the panels, tracks, cables, and hardware out to our trailer. You get a clean opening to work with, not a pile of scrap in your driveway. From there we set the new track, hang the panels one by one, wind the springs to the right turn count for your door’s weight, and dial in the opener so it stops and reverses the way it should.

Living out in Green Sea means your garage takes a beating from the humidity, the salt air drifting in from the coast, and those summer thunderstorms that roll through Horry County like clockwork. A worn-out or poorly installed garage door lets all of that in, along with wasps, field mice, and whatever else wants to move under your roof. Skylift Garage Doors has been putting in new doors for families across this stretch of South Carolina since 2007, and we still show up ready to work the same day you call.

You want to know what you’re getting before the truck pulls in. Here’s what a Skylift install includes for Green Sea homeowners:
That last one matters more than folks realize. We’re not the crew that packs up and speeds off before you’ve hit the button yourself. If something isn’t tracking right or the remote feels off, we’d rather find out standing in your driveway than get a call the next day.
Folks around here don’t want a door that looks like it belongs on a strip of townhouses down in Myrtle Beach. Most of the homes we service in Green Sea sit on some land, carry a little country character, and the door should match. During the walk-through we bring samples and talk through what fits your house and what fits your taste.
Steel is what most of our neighbors end up picking, and for good reason. It handles the coastal weather, resists dents from a stray baseball or a kid on a four-wheeler, and comes in enough colors and panel styles to match any farmhouse or brick ranch. The insulated versions keep the garage cooler in July when you’re trying to work on a project inside, and they cut down on the noise when the door opens early in the morning.
Some of the newer builds we’ve worked on call for something different. Cleaner lines, more glass, less traditional. Aluminum frames with frosted or tinted glass panels let light into the garage while keeping some privacy. They make a statement, and they hold up well as long as they’re installed square.
If your place has that traditional look, a carriage house door dresses it up without going overboard. The overlays give you the swing-out barn appearance while the door itself still rolls up like a modern one. Homeowners love the curb appeal, and we’ve installed plenty of them on properties near Green Sea High and out toward Loris.
Sometimes a repair makes sense. Other times the door has just given up, and putting more money into it turns into throwing good after bad. A few situations we run into all the time out here:
When we walk through your options, we tell you straight whether it’s worth patching up or time to start fresh. Nobody wants to sell a door that isn’t needed.

A quality steel door with a LiftMaster opener will run you fifteen to twenty-five years if you keep up with basic maintenance. The springs typically need replacing somewhere around the ten thousand cycle mark, which for most families lands around year seven or eight.
Yes, especially in this part of South Carolina. Even without HVAC, an insulated door keeps the garage twenty to thirty degrees cooler in summer, which matters if you park a vehicle in there or use the space for anything besides storage.
Usually. Bring us a photo or let us take a look during the estimate, and we’ll match the panel style and color as close as the manufacturer will let us. Some older door lines have been discontinued, but there’s almost always a close cousin.
We can swap a single panel most of the time without replacing the whole door, as long as the model is still in production. Give us a call and we’ll come look at it.
Someone should be there at the start so we can confirm the door choice and go over the opening. After that you can head out if you want, though most folks like to hang around and see the finished job come together.
Most single-door installs wrap up in three to four hours. Doubles run longer, closer to five or six depending on what we find behind the old track. We book same-day appointments when we can, and we show up when we say we will. If we’re running behind because a previous job took longer than expected, you’ll hear from us before we hear from you.
Before we leave, we walk you through the opener settings, sync your remotes and keypad, show you how to disengage the opener in a power outage, and make sure you know what to look for as the door breaks in over the first few weeks. Nearly two decades of doing this in Horry County has taught us that the homeowners who understand their door end up needing us less down the road, and we’re fine with that.
